Undoubtedly, KATAMANSO is the most historic town in the North East sector of the GaDangme Region where the famous battle of Katamanso was fought in the 19th century by GaDangmes not only to end the slave trade, but also to stop the invasion of the
Ashanti
armies, in their attempt to conquer the GaDangmes.
Today the Royal House of the current Chief, Nii Otu Akwete IX is in partnership with the GDFC and the TUCC in the development of Katamanso in the areas of health, education and agriculture.
